The Authority is a series of the now defunct WildStorm (which was a publishing imprint of DC Comics) created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch in 1999.
It has a great story and asks interesting questions about whether a team of superheroes who try to make a finer world is always a good idea, as they mean well but some of the people in-universe think they're just violent fascists.
Despite lots of action there are quite a few touching moments. The main characters are all post-humans (superheroes), but still struggle with very human problems when they're not saving the world, like the Doctor with his substance abuse and Apollo and the Midnighter who are sometimes insecure about their relationship.
I made this tumblr as a general blog to post all my favourite parts from the comics, interesting things, fanfiction, cosplay and good websites and blogs pertaining the Authority. If you know of something that you believe should be posted here, do submit it! :)
(also there will probably be spoilers everywhere)
